As part of the International year of potato launched by the UNO, ARVALIS-Institut du végétal, with the cooperation of the CNIPT* , the support of the GIPT ** and in partnership with Bayer CropScience and GERMICOPA organizes on Monday, 8 September and Tuesday 9 September 2008 in Paris a conference on the issues and prospects of potato.

The potato is at the center of the world diet and, as such, illustrates the challenges with which the players in the sector are confronted as far as food safety, protection of natural resources or nutrition are concerned.

The main topics

During one day and a half, experts, researchers, sociologists, trade visitors and great witnesses will meet in order to take stock, among other things, of:

• the potato in the world, history and economy
• the potato in the diet,
• the potato faced with the new technical and environmental issues,
• the scientific and technical advances for a sustainable production,
• the development prospects, in both the food and non-food sectors,
• the technology transfers and development aid

Public

The conference is open to all French and foreign trade visitors from the potato industry and more generally to those from the fresh, processing, agrosupply, distribution, research sectors as well as to the Authorities, decision makers and opinion leaders.
